Nim’s Island is another great one. Also Enchanted, Ice Princess, Aquamarine, The Parent Trap, Maleficent, Hotel for Dogs, Ramona and Beezus, the Free Willy movie with Bindi Irwin, Kit Kittredge (and the other American Girl movies are quite good). If you are including animated movies, Frozen, Inside Out, Brave, and Despicable Me have strong girl characters.
