Trust Me, Lots of People Already Do

My family photo by Mark BenningtonI am a communications professional. An author. A teacher. A mother. A speaker. A blogger. And a regular ol’ person.

My mission is to empower writers. I help them: practice the kinds of skills that consistently result in publication, produce their own success, partner wisely with others, and prosper in the gig economy in whatever ways align best with their individual strengths and gifts.

My specialty is teaching writing, selling, learning, and self-promotion skills to writers. I have worked with writers from beginner all the way to book deal. If you want to make the most of what you have to author, you are in the right place.

I work with groups of writers, mostly women and mom writers, who wish to hone their writing, pitching, professional development, and self-promotion skills so they can prosper.

I am pretty writer-centric but I can speak about creative empowerment to any kind of audience. Some of my favorite audiences include writers, entrepreneurs, teachers, and women.

I keep myself steadily booked with creative projects and teach my students to do the same. I prefer to work with writers in a classroom (see my classes page) or training context (see my Dream Teams) because these are the most effective uses of my time.

I believe that every book sold in any format helps sustain the publishing business no matter where or how it is sold. That’s why I partner with any and all booksellers and libraries. It’s my job to get along with everyone. I do my best.

Even with a busy writing career, my family comes first. And since I have yet to figure out how to clone myself, I can’t promise to please everyone all the time. I do my best to be as responsive as I can. I also have this crazy idea that even though I’m an author, I should still get to have a sane life. Thanks for understanding that I just made this sound so much easier than it really is.

Anything else I need to tell you?

Ah, yes. This is a for-profit blog.

I have been a professional writer for the past decade. I charge money for my services.

I am open to affiliate programs and whatever else is a widely recognized legitimate way to pay for my daughter’s future college education (she wants to go to art school). I try to remember to disclose when I receive services or products gratis. Let’s just say if you see a link, it’s likely an affiliate link. Other than that I don’t link much.

I do not affiliate or endorse anything or anyone in this blog unless I genuinely like the work or them. When I am impressed, I recommend products or services. When I am not impressed, I try to keep my mouth shut. Absolutely everything recommended is vetted by me personally and I would not have it any other way.
