Trust Me, Lots of People Already Do

My family photo by Mark BenningtonI am a communications professional. An author. A teacher. A mother. A speaker. A blogger. And a regular ol’ person.

My mission is to empower writers. To help them produce their own success, partner wisely with others, and prosper in the gig economy in the ways that align best with their individual strengths and gifts.

My specialty is teaching nonfiction writing for publication, all the way from beginner to book deal. If you want to make the most of what you have to author, then you are in the right place.

I work with groups of writers, mostly women and mom writers, who wish to hone their writing, pitching, professional development, and self-promotion skills so they can prosper.

I enjoy speaking and teaching live workshops to diverse audiences. My favorite audiences are writers, readers, teachers, and business people.

My first book Writer Mama, serves an audience of moms and moms-to-be, but men—especially writer dads—and nonfiction writers of all stripes say they get a lot out of it, too.

My second book, Get Known Before the Book Deal, is helpful for men, women, and even young writers.

I am working on a third book for Writer’s Digest and I’ll tell you all about it when I’m ready. See my Books page for more info.

Anything else I need to tell you?

Ah, yes. This is a for-profit blog.

I have been a professional writer for the past decade. I charge money for my services.

I am open to sponsorships, affiliate programs, and whatever else is a legitimate way to pay for my daughter’s future college education (she wants to go to art school). I disclose when I receive services or products gratis.

I do not affiliate or endorse anything or anyone in this blog unless I genuinely like it or them. When I am impressed, I recommend products or services. When I am not impressed, I try to keep my mouth shut. Absolutely everything recommended is vetted by me personally.

Here is a list of current affiliations:

  • Amazon.com
  • DIY Themes: Thesis
  • Writer’s Digest

I believe that every book sold in any format helps sustain the publishing business no matter where or how it is sold. That’s why I partner with any and all booksellers and libraries. It’s my job to get along with everyone. I do my best.
