The Walton's movie which inspired the TV series was “The Homecoming.”
A couple more good writer movies are:
The Ghost of Dickens Past
David Copperfield (Charles Dickens' fictionalized autobiography)
Bleak House (Nemo was a law writer.)

“Heavenly Creatures,” Peter Jackson’s Oscar-nominated 1994 film is about two girls who have an intense imaginary life, and write stories about it. An excellent, excellent film.
