I reviewed it, too. Can’t wait to go to Sue and Harriet’s links to read theirs. Thanks, CK, for telling us about this book. I gave my copy to my mother. She’ll be 87 in June and still curious and lively. Looking forward to the Lamott book. LOVE our Annie! Anyway, my review is here – scroll down on right side: http://anyshinything.com/

great interview.
Wild by Cheryl Strayed
I loved the book, couldn’t put it down. I was impressed by her courage to make this incredible journey as well as her courage to look back on her life and come to terms with her mistakes as well as her mother’s. The high point for me was that she ultimately was able to recognize and accept the weakness and the strengths in both herself and her Mom. I’m not sure she knew that looking back at her life would allow her to move forward. But by following her heart she grew into a strong, independent and centered woman who could begin to live a more normal life.
This is a great read for everyone but for women it has a special message, much like my favorite Helen Reddy song- I am Woman. Women (and men) can do anything we aspire to as long as we consider our personal strengths and weakness and adjust accordingly.
This is an amazing woman. By the time I finished the book she felt like a friend.
Love your comparison to Helen Reddy song. Wow, I haven’t thought of that song in years. But you are so right on with its appropriateness to this story/book.
And I love the song. Very empowering.
than you for sharing this.
Just by coincidence I was going on vacation to Oregon, and landing in Portland, Oregon. I didn’t want to take Wild on my trip and it was easy to read in 3 days. I found myself looking for Cheryl @ce61c37c682e7580d593bdb6d5e2c042:disqus the airport, in Oregon – even in Yahats, Florence, Newport, wherever we went, I looked for that flower necklace. Now, I think I read she lives in Minneapolis? I definitely felt different when I finished that book! So excited with no one to share this with! How could I forget all you girls/guys out there!! So while hiking in the forests of tall pines and all those trails in Oregon, I tried to be a Cheryl Strayed in my much punier state. She gave me strength, and I took it!
