Remember that Neil Diamond song from the film E.T.?
Turn on your heart-light.
Let it shine wherever you go.
Let it make a happy glow for all the world to see.
Well, I already wrote about tuning into your heart frequency the other day. I really do believe that my heart has more than enough to say to keep me engaged for the rest of my days.
But I’m not a hopeless romantic.
At least not any longer.
So while I’m attempting to follow the inspirations that come from my inner broadcast, I’m find I need a GPS to get me from point A to point B.
And for me that GPS is not as much my heart-light as it is my gut-light.
My gut-light is a lot less dreamy than my heart-light. It’s less sentimental, it’s more practical, and it’s less apt to get weepy if I make a mistake or get lost.
I love the idyllic world of the open-hearted; I think it’s a nice fairy tale. But today I live in reality.
When I pay attention to the direction of my gut-light, things go well, even if not perfectly, because I accept my own limits and other people’s limits. I don’t pretend that there are no limits.
When I ignore the signals and go for the fantasy instead, I get in trouble. I set myself up for disappointment.
Earth is like school. If you listen, follow intructions, and steer the best course for you, things can be joyful (maybe even ecstatic). I have certainly been blessed many times over since I embraced living in the real world…since I started steering by gut-light.
