Your writing career isn’t just about landing one book deal and then scrambling like crazy so folks will hear about your book, and then scrambling to get a second book deal, and so on. Prepare to be amazed by how much you can do to market your book.
How little sleep you can do it on.
And to plumb the depths of your commitment to your writing career.
This accurately describes the situation of the newly published author.
You’ll launch your book with an awful lot of good intentions.
You’ll try to say, “Yes,” to as many people as you can.
But by this point, you will be running a sprint, not a marathon, so it’s easy to forget to take care of yourself.
Try not to forget your health. Or you’ll pay for it.

Ground yourself in healthy habits that will keep you plugging along. The old-fashioned ones still work: good food, regular exercise, and lots of rest.
And, hey, go for it! You worked long and hard to get to this point.
Don’t be so frenetic that you alienate others.
Don’t forget to thank everyone who helped you get where you are.
I talked about the importance of saying no and sticking to your plan last week.
Just remember who is steering the book-publicity ship.
You.
