Ready to take your writing career to the next level?
Helping writers go from where they are to where they could be in six weeks is my specialty.
I break my classes down into focused learning experiences because you can only absorb and apply so much in six weeks. But the important part is practicing the skills enough to be able to be successful in the short term and then do it again. I enjoy working with students who are ready to dive in and who can dedicate a reasonable amount of time to the effort.
Three – six hours a week, depending on how productive you want to be during your class time, is the amount of time students devote to their assignments in my classes. I take pride in continually growing and expanding my courses to meet my students’ ongoing wants and needs. I’m not perfect. But I think I have consistently done a pretty good job, while juggling many other priorities at the same time.
In addition to learning and practicing skills sets, students report that they enjoy the class camaraderie and sharing, the time to focus on their creative goals, and the opportunity for creative self-reflection.
Those who enjoy working with me have the opportunity to continue their growth in my five-month long dream teams, where the focus is on professionalism and resiliency. The next round of Dream Teams begins on August 1st. (more info)

Even though I had published pieces in a national magazine before taking this course, I felt that I learned a lot. It was a great experience and I leave the course knowing how to write a variety of different pieces. I feel like I really have a handle on the process of stepping into this arena of magazine writing – from researching magazines, what kinds of pieces to write, and how to submit them. Yay! ~ Melissa C.
